My name is Jennie Falconer and I am a fully qualified Otago Exercise Programme Instructor, based in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

The Otago Exercise Programme Instructor Qualification allows me to lead and enable people to implement the Otago Exercise Programme (OEP) safely effectively on a one-to-one basis or Otago classes.

The aims, components, progressions and support strategies of OEP not only enable participants to receive the health benefits of exercise,  they also lead to improved strength and balance which reduces or prevents the likelihood of falls and fractures, and, consequently a significant improvement in their quality of life.

Otago is designed as a falls prevention tool and to improve health and fitness as well as confidence.

About me

I have worked in health and social care for 30 years, primarily with older people. My roles have ranged from sheltered housing manager to CQC registered manager in various domiciliary care settings.

I have an NVQ2 in fitness and exercise and qualified as an Otago instructor in 2015 after learning of its benefits and success for older adults.

I have also been awarded the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) certificate in managing safely and an NVQ3 in customer service.
